Exploring Paris

I started the day by breaking a plate. A plate on which I had been served a lovely avocado toast, in a very chic cafe. Karma struck immediately, as I cut my finger in the process. Probably serves me right - it was a beautiful plate.

After such an exciting brunch, we started our real adventure in the city. So far, Paris is much as I imagined. French people, tourists, old buildings, lots of cafes. Quite lovely. Every house looks exactly the same though, so I definitely haven’t learned my way around. Luckily, my friends are well versed in google maps.

This way?

Walking through the city we saw lots of beautiful sites, and I got myself no less than four blisters. We spent some time in the gorgeous Notre Dame Cathdral, marvelling at the architecture and history of it all. It’s amazing to me the lengths humans go to to show their firm belief in faith. I adore cathedrals especially, and really enjoyed my time there, a break from the sunny, touristy madness outside.

Moving on we found a bunch of vintage stores to check out, and I made a small dent in my budget by purchasing both a used leather jacket, and a pretty ball gown. When in Paris, non ? After a disappointing salad and a much more preferable bowl of fries, we found our way down to the Seine. Strolling by the river was something I longed to do before I came here, and it was indeed lovely. We debated weather to swim over to the other side to get on a tour boat, but decided against it, and spent a good hour walking up and down the many bridges before finding a waiting tour boat that would later take us round to see, among other things, the Eiffel Tower. Taking a tour on the Seine at sunset is something I can definitely recommend - the city of lights turns on, and it’s beautiful. The perfect touristy ending to a brilliantly touristy day.
