So, we’ve finally made it. The plane ride was fine, and I managed to get on it, on time, only hurting myself by accidentally scraping my knee trying to get into my seat. I’ve never been known for my grace. I did however get a wink of sleep! Not a whole lot, but enough for me to feel somewhat refreshed by the time we landed in Paris.

The view from roughly six in the morning before we took off |
I’m here for a girls weekend with friends, a healthy break from the sadly still snowy Scandinavia. Greeting us as soon as we landed was, oh yes, the sun. Bliss. The first order of business, after getting into the actual city on another bus, was to find food. Well, second order of business - the first thing I did was to dig out my sunglasses from my luggage. How wonderful to need them again.
We trekked through the city in search of a good brunch place, me getting crankier by the second (I am not a person who fairs well on an empty stomach). Finally finding a café with space outside, each of us ordered from the breakfast menu. My French is... well, certainly not good, but I did my best. That is, switched to English as soon as. Fourteen hours later, the waiter came with our food - we each got one egg, scrambled nicely, and a small piece of toast. My friends had somehow managed to order two hot milks (no, seriously) instead of lattes. To say our first food outing in France was somewhat tragic wouldn’t be that much of an exaggeration.

My cappuccino with proper coffee, and my friends’... milk |
After walking around some more, still dragging our luggage behind us, we found a nice pizza place that offered properly sized food, and had a lovely time there. Being here with friends I haven’t seen in a while means lots of giggly catching up, and that in itself is just balm for the soul. The pizza was great too, and I am now back in our room, dozing off a food hangover. Not that I’m complaining. I reckon I’ll need the energy if I’m to keep up with Paris’s nightlife later on.

Still somewhat surreal to be here, but it does look like Paris, so I suppose it actually is |
